Marie-Louise Hertog
Song Sketch 42
I have been recently mesmerised by Marie-Louise Hertog’s improvisation dance practice, creating incredible movement to a range of musical tracks, from I'll Come Too, James Blake, Unimaginable Falling by Peenoise, Under The Wire by @lilianhakmusic through to I Fall In Love Too Easily by Chet Baker ♥️ (part one). Hertog is part of the @mir_dance_company and @musiktheaterimrevier. Within the MiR Dance Company, Hertog recently performed live at the Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen Germany. Here’s hoping they tour further afield. Sketch of the week, an instrumental I have been toying with, Slow Walking.

Music and the Mind
This week, I’m taking a look at sound and sleep. Steve Keller informs us that Lack of sleep can increase our risk for many conditions, such as infections, as well as exacerbate depression and anxiety, “getting a good night’s sleep can reduce stress, help us think more clearly and improve our reflexes.” He recommends listening to soothing sounds of nature or white noise to carry us to dreamland.

Film Friday
Today, the groundbreaking generative documentary about visionary musician and artist Brian Eno, a film that’s different every time it’s shown! “Rich with access to hundreds of hours of never-before-seen footage and unreleased music, Gary Hustwit’s forthcoming documentary Eno employs groundbreaking technology to accomplish something that’s never been done before: a feature film that’s never the same twice.”
Thanks for reading. This newsletter is a fun way to bring some colour into the week. If you’d like to support my work, please pass along and help build this community taking a peak at music, life and the whole enchilada.
