Song Sketch 38
From June 30 to July 12, Ozawa International Academy Switzerland will celebrate its 20th anniversary at the Château de Rolle. This Classical music academy brings together top young string players from all over the world and was founded by conductor Seiji Ozawa in 2004. Author, Haruki Murakami writes about his experience in Switzerland with Ozawa in his book ‘Absolutely on Music’, telling of the relationship between the people of the town and their enjoyment and respect for the academy. Sadly, we lost Ozawa in February of this year. This summer there will be a concert in tribute taking place on July 9, at the Victoria Hall, Geneva. Tanglewood: So You Want To Be A Conductor? (1985)
“In 1985, BBC-TV, in association with the American cable channel Arts & Entertainment Network (A&E), produced two documentaries about Tanglewood, the music venue in the Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts that serves as the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. They feature interviews with renowned composers and conductors Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, Kurt Masur, Seiji Ozawa, Andre Previn, Gunther Schuller, Joseph Silverstein, and Leonard Slatkin. “So You Want To Be A Conductor?” and “A Place To Make Music” focus on the annual summer academy attended by emerging professional musicians, and chronicle Tanglewood’s origins and development. Written and directed by British composer and documentarian Herbert Chappell’

Song Sketch - Resting 84 Lyrics -
That night
there were stars out just for you
and the winter sky was as cold as ice.
I’ve been told
satellites that glint like gold
float by like gods of old in the night.
Wild rivers
flow down into the sea
and you tell me if I like
you’ll show me where they meet.
You and I
take this broken world
and turn it into something beautiful.
We made a wish
that when we say hello to the end
we’d feel the warmth, not the cold.
Wild rivers
flow down into the sea
and you tell me if I like
you’ll show me where they meet.
I closed my eyes,
let a picture come alive
of the things I want to be my guide.
My mind
is not defined by time
if when I dream I dream of you.
Wild rivers
flow down into the sea
and you tell me if I like
you’ll show me where they meet.
